And just like that, the whole world changed overnight…
At Cocolico we’re following the Government’s advice on social distancing; staying at home as much as possible during the coronavirus pandemic.
(I also follow the situation in France very closely as all my family is there.)
This whole coronavirus situation feels a bit unreal.
As a small business owner, I think it’s going to be tough for us financially, as it is for other people.
What this means for us at Cocolico
For now, I feel the responsible and safe thing to do is to withdraw from selling at all local food and vegan markets, including Reading Farmers’ Market.
As restaurants and cafes are not allowed to open, we have had to cancel our popular vegan afternoon tea at Reading International Solidarity Centre (RISC). RISC has always been hugely supportive of Cocolico, and we hope to return the favour once they are back up and running.
Lots of you have been getting in touch to ask when and where you can buy your favourite Cocolico patisserie treats. I’m so lucky to have such loyal customers and I am grateful for every one of you!
I know that sometimes a little bit of comfort can make a big difference – especially with everything going on right now.
You can still order some of your favourite tarteletts – Mr Biscoff isn’t going anywhere, I promise! We’ve also made a selection of popular patisserie items, as well as our in-demand afternoon tea available for either delivery or collection. I am also still accepting custom orders, for the time being.
Additional safety precautions
Naturally, we are practising social distancing for everyone’s safety. We are offering local delivery for #stayhome orders (depending on where you live, there may be a charge). Food will also be available for collection.
Whether you collect from me or I deliver to you, we will always leave the food outside for you to pick up and take home or inside. And we’ll send you a message or ring the bell so you know it’s there.
The #stayhome afternoon tea menu will be subject to change; as will the food and pantry items that are available to order.
The situation with coronavirus is changing all the time. We are lucky to be able to offer food for now, but this may change in future. I will, of course, always do what I can to get your vegan treats to you.
Stay safe and take care
